Your arm swims out the open window of mid-90s hatchback. It dances to the radio and to the open road, revels in the feeling of wind through your widespread fingers.

You smile shamelessly, greedily, at your escape. It's spring in anywhere, USA, and you're getting out, hitting the road, heading for the mountains. Friends and tents and bottle openers are crammed in tight. This is the real new year: the warm sun, the woods, the trek to see something old, and clean, and fundamental.
